B1-Kurs Erfahrungen

I already joined the course in summer semester of 2021 and now I wanted to improve my English skills again this year. I was hoping the course would be in a lecture hall but it’s fine online too. My goals are to improve and expand my grammar skills which I  sometimes struggle with. I love speaking the English language, practising with different people during the course and working with Steven.

I would like to improve my English for professional as well as personal reasons. My last school English was 8 years ago. So I have to learn a lot again such asspeaking and writing fluently in English.

I have never taken an English course for university employees. After seeing the announcement for this course, I was interested. I wanted to refresh my English that I had not used for a long time. I hope the course will make me more familiar with English again when I have to deal with it every week.

I haven`t spoken English in a long time. So I am hoping to improve my English skills. Listening and speaking  are very difficult for me and that’s why my English has become somewhat rusty.

I decided to take the English course because it has been about ten years since I spoke English with native speakers. It is my first time to be in this course. The last business English lesson I did was during my studies in 2007. Before I came to the Chemnitz University of Technology, I worked for an American company that sent English invoices but writing was not really necessary there. My motivation is to refresh my vocabulary, my grammar and to be better in speaking and writing.

Yes, I had taken the English course for university employees several times before. My English is better than before, but it is still not good enough. I would like to speak more confidently and consolidate my grammar and vocabulary.

I took a university employee English course during my former job at RWTH University. However, there I had many appointments and so I mostly had no time for the course. I want to get better in English speaking. Mostly I have problems to find the right words, when I have to speak spontaneously English or my head is blocked completely and I can’t speak English. Actually I don´t need much English at work. My goals are to not forget everything that I have learned and I hope that I can speak more spontaneously in English.

I have never taken an English course at the university before.I decided to join this course because I want to learn to speak and write a little more correctly an with more vocabulary. I hope to get more practice in grammar.Jens:My last English lessons were 20 years ago. Before corona I spoke English on holidays and sometimes I have to use English documents. I feel my English skills are shrinking and it's time to do something against that.

C1-Kurs Erfahrungen

I had taken the university employee English course several times before. I decided to continue the course in order to have the opportunity again to improve my English skills. Especially the speaking skills get lost during the daily working routine and private life if there are no or not enough English speaking counterparts. Moreover, I was interested in the new topics like job interviews, meetings etc.. As already mentioned I would like to improve my English skills all the time. Improving grammar and speaking skills are my main goals. Additionally, I am always keen on learning and speaking foreign languages, especially English. I am very interested in travelling and other cultures and I would like to have very good language skills for my future career as well as private life in order to get to know people from all over the world by using the global language. That’s why I was motivated again to enrol in this course.

I decided to join the English course this semester because it is a great way to improve my English skills. It is also good to get in contact with other employees at the university to learn more about other departments. Our teacher comes from the USA and he teaches really perfectly. We work with an English book with vocabulary and grammar tasks. But sometimes we are also talking about daily routines, traveling, hobbies, the weather, our home towns, our families and other topics everyone is interested in.At the moment we meet via Big Blue Button. It is a nice tool to work with. But it would be good if we could meet each other in person. The interaction in real meetings is in my opinion much better. In my job more and more staff from abroad are joining us. We must communicate to resolve many problems. Sometimes there are questions about health insurance, lsiving circumstances, applications and so on.

I have been attending the university employee English course for several years. To be honest, I do not exactly know when I started it. During these years I also joined a few student courses, but they are quite crowded. The course for the employees are smaller, and you have the opportunity to interact more. It is also a good chance to meet and talk to people from the whole university. For my daily routine at the department, it is quite important to talk and write in English, but sometimes it is quite hard for me to communicate. I joined the course to get used to talking and writing. I want to improve my skills.

I have been taking part in the course since August 2019, and I don't regret it. Reading and listening are not so hard for me because you can repeat reading or watching a video twice. Speaking is harder. My main goal is to improve my speaking skills. First, you have to overcome your shyness to speak. Most people think it must be 100% correct in language and grammar when you say something. But remember, your counterpart most times understands what you'd like to say even with mistakes. So it's more important to start speaking instead of thinking about what to say. Our small group is one advantage of the course. Everyone is forced to speak to keep the conversation in progress. You also get direct feedback about mistakes, better wording, or alternative formulations. Another benefit is the relation to business communication. The content of the course is helpful in my daily work, but also on holiday or normal conversations.

I didn´t take the university employee English course before. I decided to join because I wanted to improve my English skills. Reading and listening to English texts are not so hard for me, but my problem is speaking with someone in English. My goals for the course are to improve my English skills for the job. In my job I have to read contracts in English and sometimes I have to speak with someone in English. So, I hope the course takes away my fear to speak in a foreign language.
