Research group Non-conventional Mesomorphic Materials
The research group "Non-conventional Mesomorphic Materials" has been established at the end of 2003 as Juniorprofessorship "Non-classical Synthetic Methods" and is concerned about the synthesis of non-conventional liquid crystalline materials with a defined nano-morphology. Thereby, the supramolecular chemistry is an important tool. The presice design of molecules defines the supramolecular interactions in solid and liquid crystalline states, which enable the control of the materials organisation on length scales of nanometer. The research group is active within two principal research areas the "V-shaped, shape-persistent biaxial nematogens" and the "star-shaped mesogens"
