Consequences of plagiarism
Plagiarism in seminar papers or final theses can have serious consequences.
These can be:
- Withdrawal of examination results (e.g. seminar papers or dissertations, in particular dissertations)
- in extreme cases, de-registration
- legal consequences due to copyright infringement
- claim for damages
Correct quoting is a basic requirement of scientific work. Violations of the obligation to quote can be punished as forgeries and lead to accusations of plagiarism.
