Plagiarism

plagiarising...
...or falsely taking the credit for other peoples work

Theses, seminar papers, diploma thesis, bachelor's or master's thesis, doctoral thesis:

Writing your own scientific texts is an essential part of your studies. In doing so, you always include already existing relevant literature: Books, articles in professional journals, working papers, articles in anthologies, primary sources , internet sources, etc.

It is important to note that statements, quotations, references, even thoughts, which - literally or logically - are integrated into one's own work from other sources, must be proven!

We will briefly introduce you to the problem of plagiarism and offer you help on how to avoid plagiarism. Further literature on this subject, but also general works on scientific work, can be found in your library catalogue.

It is also helpful to have a policy to ensure good scientific practice, which is available at most universities and colleges. This is also the case at Chemnitz University - you will find a a link to the document in the link collection under Tools.
