Recently one has been confronted more and more often with the consequences of false quotations or deliberate plagiarism . The consequences are the revocation of exam results and academic titles as well as the destruction of professional careers.
Therefore: It is better to learn to quote right away!
What do I have to quote?
Anything that you take literally or in terms of content from other sources - no general knowledge (e.g. beginning and end of the First World War) or basic knowledge in your field (e.g. Pythagorean theorem).
When do I have to quote?
If you use or reproduce the works/ideas of others (even if they are only reproduced analogously!)
How often do I have to cite a source?
Directly after the quotation in short form - Attention! In the case of footnotes, a source is usually given in full when you use it for the first time, then only in short form.
Each time a quotation is made from this work again, the following is given in abbreviated form.
At the end of the work in the bibliography as full document.
