International MERGE Technologies Conference

The International MERGE Technologies Conference (IMTC) is a biennial scientific conference organized by the Central Institution MERGE of Chemnitz University of Technology. Since 2013, it brings together scientists and industry experts to discuss the latest developments and trends in the technology field of lightweight construction.

On 1st and 2nd December 2021, the 5th edition of the conference took place under headline “Sustainability through Lightweight Technologies”. More than 100 participants from 5 different countries took the opportunity to exchange ideas about innovations, current trends, developments and challenges in the industry. The event concept included a wide-ranging lecture programme, which included the four sessions "Materials, Semi-Finished Products and Composite Structures", "Processing, Systems and Applications for Large-Scale Production", "Modelling and Simulation of Hybrid Structures and their Production Processes", and "Smart Systems Integration", as well as a Special Session on "Circular Economy and the Carbon Footprint". The event also offered a poster session, a showcase, a trade fair and numerous networking opportunities. Due to the pandemic and the associated restrictions on in-person events, the event was offered in a hybrid format.

The next IMTC is planned for 2023.
