The professorship of Computer Engineering implements next methods of active learning in classroom. eduScrum and Jigsaw.

TU Chemnitz implements eduScrum and Jigsaw within teaching as active learning methods in classroom since Summer Semester 2018.

    • EduScrum

The eduScrum method for teaching and learning was adapted to selected course for implementation. Research seminar 500090 is the flipped class and to apply eduScrum method have been developed additional elements for OPAL course: eduScrum folder. The eduScrum element included elements: Team building, Introduction, Scrum master, Sprint and others. Daily scrum meeting organized by offline and online forums.

    • Jigsaw

During the Research Internship (500170) teaching is divided in presence phases and home studies. Students learn basic skills for scientific working and thinking. Major work packages include literature research, conceptual design, implementation, structured tests as well as critical analysis, discussion and technical documentation. During classroom teaching Jigsaw was used and tasks according to the traditional lecture needs to be solved within the specified groups. The phases of home studying are used for project-based active learning. It means that the students got a relevant task to the current topic of the lecture with a bigger range. They have to work on it at home and as result the preparation of a report in form of slides and a presentation before the class and discussion was required.
