Prue Goredema, MBS
Curriculum vitae
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and an Honours degree in Applied Linguistics & Literary Theory from the University of Johannesburg. I have a Master’s degree from the Centre for British Studies, an interdisciplinary research institute at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. I am reading for a doctorate in English Didactics, focusing on Content and Language Integrated Learning, a system whereby content subjects are taught in a foreign language.
I have taught English as a Second or Foreign language to learners across the spectrum – from pre-school to postgraduate level. Some highlights include teaching Business English and Academic Writing as a guest lecturer at Media Design Hochschule in Berlin and over six years as a Writing Instructor for Language Online/Smarthinking.
Before my teaching career, I worked as a columnist for a general interest women’s title in the South Africa-based Media24 publishing house, and I also spent a year researching and writing material for the revamped De Beers’ Diamond Museum in Kimberley. I have also worked as an eLearning journalist covering the systemic hurdles hampering the full integration of ICT in education and also the exciting innovations that are transforming education practices worldwide.
