The University of Tuscia, founded in 1979 in Viterbo, Italy, is named after the Tuscia region. Its Faculty of Political Science, established in 2002, has around 1,700 students and is located in the medieval part of the city. The faculty emphasizes multimedia skills and IT knowledge in its curricula, which includes courses in Communication, Culture, Media Studies, and Public Administration. The faculty’s auditorium is housed in the 12th-century San Carlo Church.

Viterbo, with a population of around 60,000, is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in central Italy. It was once a papal residence and boasts many historical buildings and landmarks. In addition to the University of Tuscia, the city is home to Italy's gold reserves and an Italian Army aviation base.
