University Spin-off Staffbase Awarded Most Important Saxon Business Prize

It has been a particularly successful year for the software company Staffbase, which was spun off from Chemnitz University of Technology and has its headquarters in Chemnitz. After Staffbase was already able to increase its company value to one billion euros in the spring due to outstanding investments by capital providers, the three company leaders and owners Frank Wolf, Dr. Martin Böhringer and Dr. Lutz Gerlach received the most important Saxon business award, Saxony's Entrepreneur of the Year, on May 13, 2022, beating out 47 competitors. "Chemnitz University of Technology has trained five of Staffbase's first six team members. Of course, we feel closely connected to the university. That's why, as a member of the supervisory board of TUCed, I'm also pleased to keep in touch with the university," says Martin Böhringer. "The founders' network of Chemnitz University of Technology, Saxeed, has strongly supported us on our journey as founders," adds Lutz Gerlach. Böhringer, together with Gerlach, is not only one of the founders of Staffbase - both are also graduates of Chemnitz University of Technology. Martin Böhringer studied business informatics in Chemnitz, Lutz Gerlach business administration. Both also earned their doctorates at Chemnitz Technical University.
This year's choice of the Staffbase owners as Saxony's Entrepreneurs of the Year was made by a jury consisting of nine experts from business and media companies and three consultants. The three owners received their awards in Dresden and were honored by Saxony's Minister President Michael Kretschmer.
The company Staffbase was founded in 2014 and is now one of the market leaders with its platform for employee communication.

Since 2006, the Saxon Entrepreneur Award has annually honored entrepreneurs who not only distinguish themselves through outstanding economic performance, but also show a special commitment to social and societal issues and create innovative and sustainable products.
