Anyone who successfully completed their degree program or doctorate at the Technische Universität Chemnitz in the 2015 summer semester or 2015/2016 winter semester will have the chance to reflect on this occasion on April 9th, 2016. On this day, the TU will host its annual Graduation Ceremony. Registration is possible now through the 18th of March at https://www.tu-chemnitz.de/uk/veranstaltungen/events/absolventenfeier/anmeldung/index.php.en.

The academic ceremony will take place in the St. Petrikirche located in the Chemnitz Theaterplatz. Admission starts at 9:00 a.m. and the event will begin at 10:30 a.m. Each graduate can register up to two accompanying persons. Due to limited seating availability, registrations will considered according to the time that they are received. It is possible for all graduates to borrow a cap and gown for the ceremony for a fee.

Along with honoring all graduates, several other cultural contributions are planned for the occasion. These include performances from the university choir and Collegium musicum orchestra, among others. This year, the ceremonial address will be held by Jirí Zapletal, who studied European Studies with Economic Sciences from 2002 through 2006 at the TU Chemnitz and, after appointments in Berlin and Brussels, now works for the Federal Ministry of Finance in Berlin. Representatives from the university and the city will also speak to the audience. The event will be rounded off with a champagne reception on the Theaterplatz, where graduates will have the chance to celebrate the completion of an important chapter in their lives surrounded by their loved ones and peers.

Participation in the festivities is free of charge for all graduates. Accompanying persons may participate with a contribution of 10 euros toward the cost of the event. Rental fees for caps and gowns can be reduced from 25 to 10 euros through a sponsoring option offered through the university.

Anyone who would like to stay connected with his alma mater after completion of his studies has the opportunity to do so via membership in the society “Gesellschaft der Freunde” (https://www.tu-chemnitz.de/tu/freunde/) or via the university’s Alumni-Portal (https://www.tu-chemnitz.de/uk/alumni/index.php.en)
