Launch of the HORIZON project CEASEVAL

Kickoff for the Chemnitz University headed EU research project

European migration specialist and head of the Junior Professorship Humangeographie Ostmitteleuropa (Human geography of East-Central Europe) at Chemnitz University of Technology, Jun.Prof. Birgit Glorius, heads as lead partner a research project funded by the European Commission (EC) in the framework of the HORIZON program 2020. Main objective of the project, with participation of an international and multidisciplinary team, is to evaluate the Common European Asylum System and elaborate possibilities for reform. In the framework of a colloquium on November 16 and 17, 2017, at Chemnitz University, the project kickoff was celebrated. “For the first time, all representatives of all partner organizations met in one place to work together on the final touches of the project”, explained Glorius.

EU funds research

With the support of HORIZON 2020, the EU framework program for research and innovation, the project leaders around Jun.-Prof. Glorius managed to secure two million euros of funding in June 2017. By this funding, Chemnitz University not only gains the financial base for the project but also international visibility: “I am glad, that we were able to secure a funding of the popular HORIZON 2020 grants with our top-level and currently very relevant research project CEASEVAL”, explained Glorius.
