Barrier-free library

The University Library provides unrestricted access to its services for all people in society. We are happy to adapt our services to your needs and also ensure barrier-free access and working facilities.

Library Access

There are six parking spaces in the library's own parking lot, which you can use with a handicapped parking permit.

The parking lot may be accessed via Karl-Liebknecht-Straße. At the barrier, please report to the guard, who will give you access.

Wheelchair users can reach the ground floor of the UB via the main entrance of the university library. If you are coming from the city or with public transport, it is best to take access from "Straße der Nationen". A ramp is available on both sides of the stairs. The entrance doors open automatically.

If you use one of the library's parking spaces, you will find the entrance to the library right at the parking lot. Here you may have to report to the guard again.

You can reach all floors by elevator.

Visually impaired users may enter the University Library via the main entrance. Immediately behind the door, a tactile guidance system begins on the floor, which shows you the way to the information desk on the ground floor.

Media supply

We are offering all kinds of support for people with disabilities. Upon request, we will be happy to assist you in retrieving books from our stock. We will make copies or scans for you and buy the books you need: we will find a solution for every problem. Please come to our service desk or get in touch with us via email: .

Equipment

In order to facilitate the orientation and usage of the University Library for visually-impaired persons, there is a tactile orientation system on the one hand and a specific workstation for visually-impaired persons on the other. As this is situated in an enclosed space, interested users are asked to contact the information desk in advance (phone: 0371-531-13180, email: ) or to address to the information desk. You find it on the 1st level of the Library building.

We offer special guided tours for people with disabilities. Please contact us via email: .

Barrier-free restrooms are located in the basement.

Lockers for wheelchair users are available in the cloakroom area in the basement of the library.
