Teaching Languages to Young Learners (Sarah K. Reader M.A.)

Description: This course serves as a basic introduction to language learning. Stages and milestones of first language acquisition in childhood and second language acquisition will be outlined and compared. Students will define and discuss similarities and differences in language learning and acquisition and their implications for teaching English to young learners. Furthermore, differences in learners’ individual abilities, aptitude, and motivation will be examined and their effects on second language learning in the classroom will be reflected upon.

This seminar is held in English. Students are asked to participate actively in class sessions. 

Participants: Second semester students (SELAEn2)
Exam: The module grade is made up of the exam grades from the seminars Introduction to Foreign Language Teaching and Skills and Competencies in the EFL Primary Classroom. This seminar covers and reinforces essential knowledge you will need for those seminars (and other English courses you will have during your studies).
