Thematic Focus of the Professorships

Preparative, organometallic chemistry and classical complex chemistry as well as single crystal structure analysis (solid state structures, behavior of molecules in solids) and in molecular modeling (analysis of lattice and molecular movements as well as molecular properties, minimum structures, electronic molecular building blocks), structure elucidation in solution using NMR, UV/Vis, IR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry; preparative, inorganic chemistry, activation of oxygen and its compounds at metal centers, oxygen storage, etc., and homogeneous catalysis as well as combinatorial chemistry. and homogeneous catalysis as well as combinatorial chemistry.

Synthesis and purification of organic compounds in the laboratory, separation of mixtures of organic substances using chromatographic methods, structure elucidation of organic compounds using spectroscopic methods.

Kinetic analysis of organic reactions, computational chemistry, computational investigations of molecules and reactions

Technical-chemical processes at laboratory test facilities, e.g. heterogeneously catalyzed gas or liquid phase reactions, with reference to energy and environmentally relevant issues. We can also offer characterization methods from the fields of spectroscopy, analytics and sorption to support special learning achievements.

Experimental work on electrochemical-analytical testing methods (water and food testing), corrosion processes, electrochemical energy storage and conversion systems.

Spectroscopic, microscopic and calorimetric investigation methods for material science issues and membrane separation technology.

Synthesis of all kinds of polymers, spectroscopic characterization of polymers and processing of polymers from solution.

Experimental work and analytical investigation methods in the fields of inorganic molecular chemistry, coordination polymers and organic-inorganic hybrid materials with reference to the development of new materials; the experimental work includes classical synthesis methods as well as modern methods such as solvothermal synthesis, microwave-assisted synthesis and mechanochemically-activated synthesis. The investigation methods include NMR and IR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, dynamic light scattering and structure elucidation using X-ray diffraction methods.

Synthesis and characterization of intermetallic compounds that can be used in the field of electrochemical energy conversion and steam reforming for hydrogen production.
