Dr. Matthias Lehmann

e-mail: Matthias.Lehmann@Chemie

Dr. Lehmann studied chemistry at the Johannes Gutenberg- University of Mainz. He obtained his PhD in 1999 in the group of Prof. Dr. H. Meier for his thesis "Synthesis and Structure-Property-Relationships of Stilbenoid Dendrimers and Star-shaped Compounds ". After a post-doc position at the Universidad Zaragoza (Spain) with Prof. José Luis Serrano, where several articles on metallomesogens became published, he worked at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgien) with Prof. Yves Geerts. Here he was concerned about liquid crystalline, discotic n-type mesogens and their application in plastic electronic materials, e.g. for light emmitting diods, field-effect transistors and photovoltaic cells. At that time, Dr. Lehmann started his research work in the area of liquid crystals, focusing on the control of the nano-morphology using a suitable molecular design. From December 2003 to 2009, he was the head of the Juniorprofessorship “Non-Classical Synthetic Methods” at the Chemnitz University of Technology. Since December 2009 he is apl. Professor guiding the research group Nonconventional Liquid Crystals.
