Current Information
Numerous studies have reported beneficial effects of moderate acute exercise on executive functions, especially in young adults in the area of inhibitory control. However, less is known about the effects of acute moderate activity on working memory as a central sub-component of executive functions. As part of a current study, the effects of moderate acute exercise on working memory and the corresponding hemodynamic activation patterns as well as their development over time post-exercise were examined in a sample of healthy older adults.
