Double Degree Program

MSc. Human Movement and Exercise Science in Prevention and Rehabilitation with focus B: Health Management and Health Promotion

Background

The transnational double degree program (M.Sc. Human Movement and Exercise Science in Prevention and Rehabilitation with focus B: Health Management and Health Promotion / Master Pedagogika pohybové prevence) is unique in the Free State of Saxony and in the Czech Republic. At the Chemnitz University of Technology, students have to decide at the beginning of the Master's program whether they want to participate in the double degree program (only focus B). In the Czech Republic, the Master's program is an independent degree program.

In addition to general topics on the promotion of activity-related health behavior from childhood to old age through health and fitness sports, the double degree program also teaches specific topics on sports and exercise in the modern workplace (e.g. the role of workplace health promotion, exercise measures in the workplace, possibilities of employee motivation through sports or exercise in the context of work-life balance). Furthermore, the double degree program is oriented towards significant developments within society, in which increasing medialization and a lack of exercise are juxtaposed with a growing importance of fitness, sports and experience, and an increasing awareness of health-related issues.

Structure of the Double Degree Program

A decision on the participation in the double degree program has to be made by the students enrolled in the study program at the beginning of their master studies. During the first and second semesters, the Master's program takes place at the home university for students enrolled at Chemnitz University of Technology who have opted for the double degree program. These students complete the third semester at the Czech partner university. During this semester abroad at the partner university, students have the opportunity to gain profound insights into the research areas and topics (e.g. kinanthropology) at the partner university within the framework of projects and courses, which can be worked on in their own final thesis, if applicable. Students enrolled at the Czech partner university who have chosen the double degree program complete the first and second semesters at their home university (WBU Pilsen) and the third semester at the German partner university. In the fourth semester, students can choose whether to complete the master's thesis and the colloquium for the master's thesis at Chemnitz University of Technology or at WBU.

Admission Requirements

The requirements for admission to the Master's degree program "Human Movement and Exercise Science in Prevention and Rehabilitation" with focus B (Chemnitz University of Technology) and "Pedagogika pohybové prevence" (WBU) are defined by the study and examination regulations of the respective universities. For admission to the double degree program, in addition to fulfilling the requirements for the two degree programs mentioned above, sufficient language skills must also be demonstrated at the beginning of the study period at the partner university (3rd semester). Students of Chemnitz University of Technology have to provide evidence of English language skills at the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; knowledge of Czech at the A2 level is recommended, but is not an obligatory requirement. Students from the WBU have to provide proof of German language skills at the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Students must opt for the double degree program at the beginning of their Master's studies. The partner university WBU does not charge tuition fees to exchange students.
