Workshop in Chemnitz, Germany (27.11.2023 - 30.11.2023)

The first day, Monday, 27/11/2023, inaugurating a week of immersive experiences. The event kicked off with a warm welcome and an insightful overview by Dr. Ariane Heller. Attendees delved into the world of technology at the Indoor Flight Center (IFC) Lab and the Drone Hangar Lab led by Reda Harradi. Attendees enjoyed networking during a coffee break and then followed by presentations covering topics from scholarships to MAV-based inspections. After a lunch break, the afternoon featured student project presentations at the Automotive Software Engineering (ASE) Lab. The day concluded with a tour of the new University Library, providing valuable academic resources to participants.

The next day in the morning session showcased research and development at SSE, AUI, and delved into topics from cybersecurity to neural agents. After a brief coffee break, participants enjoyed presentations on visual acuity prediction, AI-powered bioacoustic monitoring, and transforming low-resource languages into business ventures.

After lunch, attendees visited the Measurement and Sensor Technology Lab of Professorship of Electrical Measurements and Sensor Technology and the SAXEED Incubator, gaining hands-on experience in these fields. The day wrapped up with a campus tour at Orangerie, offering a comprehensive view of the TU Campus.

The Wednesday morning featured insightful presentations, including Perception of Driving Objects Through Machine Vision, Semi-Supervised Learning for Traffic Object Detection and Classification of Driving Situations and a live demo on Cloud-Based Autonomous Driving followed, providing a comprehensive view of AI in driving. Post-coffee break, presentations on a Mentoring Bot for review support and the Development of a Frontend for Agents in a Virtual Tutoring System rounded off the technical discussions. After lunch, participants took a break from technical sessions to explore the cultural side of Chemnitz. A guided city tour provided a glimpse into the city's rich history and architecture, fostering a sense of community among workshop attendees.

The fourth day was dedicated to real-world applications, featuring a company tour at neocx GmbH and a guided visit to the Volkswagen Transparent Factory. Attendees gained valuable insights into industry practices and technological advancements, enhancing the practical dimension of their AI knowledge. The final day centered on reflection and future collaborations. Discussions on outlook and further cooperation paved the way for a collaborative future. The workshop concluded with a farewell session, marking the end of a week filled with learning, networking, and cultural exploration.
