Workshop in Rabat, Morocco (11.06.2023 - 15.06.2023)

The first MADE-AI Workshop took place from June 11th to June 15th, 2023, in the vibrant city of Rabat, Morocco. The workshop aimed to provide a platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and exploration of cutting-edge AI projects and research at the EMI (École Mohammadia d'Ingénieurs).

The workshop officially kicked off with a warm welcoming word from Prof. Karim Bouzoubaa, setting a positive tone for the days ahead. Attendees then introduced themselves during the presentation round, fostering a sense of community. The MADE-AI Project Presentation by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Wolfram Hardt showcased the significance of the workshop's theme. Prof. Samir Bennani, Deputy Director of Academic Affairs, elaborated on EMI's diverse departments and study programs, providing participants with insights into available academic pathways. The morning session concluded with an informative presentation by Prof. Abdelaziz Berrado on the Research Landscape & Doctoral Center at EMI.

The afternoon session saw the unveiling of the Computer Science Department, presented by Prof. Fatima-Zahra Belouadha, followed by networking opportunities and discussions. The day commenced with a presentation by Prof. Ghassane Aniba on an AI-job Project, offering a glimpse into the practical applications of AI in the job market.

Following a networking-rich morning, participants had the chance to learn about the NLP Research Team, further enriching their understanding of AI's interdisciplinary facets. The day was marked by presentations of students' AI projects from the Department of Computer Science, showcasing innovative ideas and solutions. Engaging discussions and questions rounded off the day's activities. The Wednesday was characterized by external engagement. Attendees embarked on a visit to the premises of the ADD Company, where they gained real-world insights into AI integration in industry. The day continued with a lunch gathering at Club USCM, fostering networking in a relaxed setting. The afternoon was dedicated to a Social and Cultural Program, offering participants a chance to experience Morocco's rich culture and heritage. As the workshop drew to a close, participants gathered once again for networking and discussions. In the subsequent session, attendees engaged in a summary and farewell session, where key takeaways were highlighted, and appreciation for the workshop's success was expressed. With newfound knowledge, connections, and experiences, participants bid farewell, departing with enriched perspectives on AI and its applications.

The first MADE-AI Workshop accomplished its goal of creating an environment for meaningful interactions, insights into AI initiatives, and a deeper understanding of EMI's contributions to the field. As attendees dispersed, they carried with them the memories of an intellectually stimulating and culturally enriching event.
