Preparation for Studies
Information in Arabic (as of October 2022)
If you would like to bridge the waiting period until you can apply for a degree program, you receive your admission letter or to finally enroll, there are various options, i.e.:
- appplying for guest audition at TU Chemnitz,
- Kiron Open Higher Education,
- tandem programm,
- onSET.
In case of any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the team of the Welcome Project.
If you are still uncertain which degree program suits your interests the best, a guest audition offers you a great possibility to attend individual courses.
Within the framework of a guest audition you will also be able to gain a first impression on the specific language that is spoken ("Hochschuldeutsch") at a university by attending e.g. a lecture. Besides that you will even improve your listening comprehension. By being a guest auditor you can attend individual courses without taking exams or obtaining a degree. A qualification for admission to higher education ("Hochschulzugangsberechtigung") is not necessary.
You can find the application form for a guest audition on this website.
Kiron is a non-profit organization that aims to provide refugees with access to a university education. It should be noted that Kiron is not a university. This means that you can earn certificates of attendance, but not a degree. Partially, however, the achievements can be recognized in form of credits at a partner university. TU Chemnitz is currently not an official partner university.
The courses in which you can participate are so-called MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses). There are two types of MOOCs at Kiron: (1) some that are live and take place at fixed times, and (2) online courses where you can work on your own schedule.
Refugees can use Kiron free of charge. Further information is online at the Kiron website.
