Background and History

This conference is the seventh in the series ‘Fractal Geometry and Stochastics’, with the six earlier ones having taken place in 1994, 1998, 2003, 2008, 2014, and 2018.

Professors Martina Zähle (FSU Jena) and Christoph Bandt (Uni Greifswald) were two of the scientific organizers for the first five conferences in the series, each time with a third “guest scientific organizer”.

The first, third and fifth meeting were held close to Jena (Finsterbergen, Friedrichroda, Tabarz); whilst the second and fourth took place near to (Koserow, Usedom), or in Greifswald.

Continuing the legacy of the series, Uta Freiberg, Michael Hinz, and Steffen Winter, three students of Professor Zähle, together with Ben Hambly as the "guest organizer", organized the most recent conference in 2018. It was held in Bad Herrenalb, located in the Black Forest. Should you wish to gain further insight, the website is still online for you to check out.

Registration

The Registration Procedure

Please use the online registration form provided below to register. In the form we ask you whether you would like to contribute to the programme (talk or poster).

If you wish to contribute it is possible to directly submit title and abstract in the submission form. The programme committee will decide until the end of July 2024 which contributions are accepted (and reserves the right to change talk proposals into posters, if necessary).

We encourage you to propose contributions. We intend to accept as many contributions as possible, allowing presentations in up to three parallel sessions and in a poster session.

Conference Fee

Please be advised that your registration will only be deemed complete once the conference fee of 125 Euros has been paid. The fee must be paid by purchasing a "conference ticket" in the webshop of the TU Chemnitz, which will be available for purchase in July/August.

If you submitted your registration in the registration form below, you will be informed by email as soon as the ticket is available and provided with further instructions.

The conference fee covers a number of expenses associated with the conference, including catering during coffee breaks and the conference dinner. Please be aware that it is not possible to opt out of the conference dinner.

Deadlines

We extended the deadline for the submission of abstracts for FGS7 till July 15. We will notify you about acceptance of your proposal by July 31. The deadline for registration without any contribution is August 31.

If you wish to appear in the list of registered participants, please give your consent by checking the corresponding box during registration.

Travel

Chemnitz is best reached via Leipzig or Dresden from where there is a train to Chemnitz at least every hour. For international participants we recommend a flight to the big airports of Berlin or Frankfurt and take the train from there. The train takes at most 3.5 hours from Berlin and 4.5 hours from Frankfurt. While it is also possible to reach Dresden and Leipzig by plane, the connecting flights are not significantly faster.

Accomodation

We have made arrangements with three hotels to offer reduced prices for participants:

Residenz-Hotel
60€ (single room) - 82€ (double room)
Biendo
61€ (single room) - 70€ (double room)
Hotel an der Oper
75€ (single room)

All rates are per night and include breakfast. To make a booking, please submit your registration and follow the instructions provided in the confirmation mail.
