Project description
The new professorship will be established at the University of Stuttgart in the context of the DFG-funded Cluster of Excellence EXC 2075 “Data-integrated Simulation Science”. The professor will be jointly appointed by the Stuttgart Center for Simulation Science (SC SimTech) and one of the faculties of the University of Stuttgart and will be closely linked to Cyber Valley, a research consortium in the field of artificial intelligence supported by the State of Baden-Württemberg. We are looking for an excellent scientist with international standing who will advance the field of machine learning for simulation science in research and teaching. The new professor is expected to contribute innovative methods for machine learning and apply and integrate them in the general area of simulation sciences. The research should be tightly integrated into the project networks of the EXC SimTech (see https://www.simtech.uni-stuttgart.de) and a combination between theoretical developments and applications to engineering and/or natural sciences is welcome. We expect contributions to teaching in the Bachelor and Master programs of the Stuttgart Center for Simulation Science and of other faculties as well as the acquisition of third-party funding and active involvement in further collaborative research projects of the University and in Cyber Valley.
