General Information
Description
The course is based on Continuum mechanics I and provides the standard approaches to the formulation and solution of geometrically and physically nonlinear problems in continuum mechanics. The exposed concepts and methods focus on the constitutive modelling of nonlinear material behaviour at large deformations.
Key contents:
- Non-cartesian base vector system and convective coordinates
- Lagrangian and Eulerian representation of motion
- Kinematics: deformation gradient, stretch and strain tensors, objective tensor rates
- Stress tensors in connection with different representations of motion
- Balance equations of continuum thermodynamics
- Constitutive material modelling: elastic and inelastic material behaviour at large deformations
Requirements:
- Engineering mechanics
- Continuum mechanics I
