Recognition of a habilitation

On 20 December 2018, Dr Wolfgang Hansal defended his habilitation thesis entitled „Electrochemical Pulse Deposition“.

In his paper, Dr. habil. Hansal systematically recorded the influence of process parameters of electrochemical pulse deposition and material sizes of the substrates to be coated on the coating result. The result was a comprehensive overview of the current state of knowledge in this field. The advantages of current-pulsed processes in the cathodic and anodic range of electrochemical coatings or surface layer processes were proven and explained by means of concrete examples. Dr Hansal's work thus serves as a basis for further developments of these promising surface technologies.

The university supervisor for the thesis was Prof. Thomas Lampke. The habilitation committee and thus the first congratulators also included the chairman of the proceedings Prof. Arved Hübler of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, TU Chemnitz, Prof. Wolfgang Paatsch of the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing, and Prof. Günter Wozniak and Prof. Michael Groß, both of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, TU Chemnitz. Prof. Wolfgang Kautek of the University of Vienna, who was also a university supervisor of Dr. Hansal, was unfortunately unable to attend the conclusion of the habilitation procedure in person. Dr Hansal's habilitation thesis will be published shortly via the IWW's publication series and the Qucosa platform.
