Long-time employee retires

Elke Benedix, employed at TU Chemnitz since 1999, retired on 01.06.2021. She began her work at the Chair of Materials and Surface Engineering in 2008.

Ms Benedix studied process engineering in the field of plastics technology at the Karl-Marx-Stadt Technical University and subsequently worked in the industrial environment for almost 20 years. In addition to the skills she acquired during this time, she acquired many new skills for her work at the TU Chemnitz from 1999 onwards, which she applied with great dedication to her main field of work, corrosion investigations at the professorship. In addition, Ms Benedix made important contributions to the research at the professorship at the nanoindenter on the micro- and nanoscale. Her field of activity also included investigations with X-ray fluorescence analysis, the climatic cabinet and the 3D profilometer. Ms Benedix also contributed her expertise to teaching – in many practical courses, e. e.g. to the courses „Corrosion and Wear“ and „Functional Materials“ she supported the training of students. She also contributed to the success of many of the Institute's events by reliably fulfilling organisational tasks.

On behalf of the entire professorship, we would like to sincerely thank Ms Benedix for her many years of dedicated service to the professorship and wish her a relaxing retirement.
