WOT successes at the International Thermal Spray Conference (ITSC) 2022
After a two-year interruption, the ITSC took place in Vienna from 04 to 06 May 20222 as an attendance event with approx. 400 participants. The WOT was represented by four people (Maximilian Grimm, Thomas Lampke, Thomas Lindner and Bianca Preuß). Current research work was presented to the interested audience in six WOT lectures. An example is the contribution by Bianca Preuß, who as a young scientist reported for the first time on eutectic high entropy alloys (photo top right). Her results met with great interest and positive feedback and open up research opportunities with international partners from industry and research.
The WOT contributions opened up a wide range of discussions on deepening existing and expanding collaborations. Based on the contribution by Bianca Preuß, concrete research work was coordinated with Professor André McDonald, University of Alberta, Canada, and his team (photo left). In this cooperation, coating materials made of high entropy alloys are to be jointly researched.
There was particular cause for celebration at the award ceremony for the „Best Paper Award“, where Maximilian Grimm's contribution „Quality assessment of thermal sprayed stainless steel coatings based on polarisation curves with 3.5 % NaCl gel electrolyte“ was honoured (photo below right). The WOT team would like to thank the project management organisation ZIM, Zentrales Innovationsprogramm Mittelstand, for the financial support as well as the project partners Putzier Oberflächen GmbH and JELN Imprägnierung GmbH, who made a decisive contribution to the success. The international recognition shows that WOT research work makes valuable contributions to the exploration of current challenges.
