Successful resumption of the IWW Colloquium
The fourth IWW Colloquium took place on 10 November 2022. Originating from the colloquium on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the WOT professorship in 2018, which was praised by guests and participants, the IWW Colloquium took place for the first time in November 2019. The colloquium combines the annual report of the IWW professorships with interesting presentations by partners and alumni as well as a networking evening with guests and colleagues. Due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the IWW Colloquium was moved to virtual space in 2020 and 2021. This year, everyone involved was looking forward to the resumption of direct contact and personal dialogue.

External doctoral student receives award for his research
Dr Johannes Näther received the Young Talent Award of the German Society for Electroplating and Surface Technology (DGO) 2022 during the ZVO Surface Technology Days 2022, organised by the Zentralverband Oberflächentechnik e.V. Dr Näther completed his doctorate as a doctoral student at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Chemnitz University of Technology as part of a cooperative doctoral procedure while working at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences. This honouring of his achievements is worthy of recognition and underlines the relevance of the doctoral project. Professor Thomas Lampke is currently supervising 26 doctoral students. Ten of these are "externals" who are gaining further qualifications through cooperative doctoral programmes. These allow academics from a University of Applied Sciences (HAW) to obtain a doctorate under the co-supervision of a university professor at their faculty.
