2021 Elections Results

Weighing the outcome of the 2021 Scottish Parliament Election and the English by-elections on 6 May 2021 for the United Kingdom, Prof. Klaus Stolz has published another article in the weekly newspaper Der Freitag on 12 May 2021:

Article Der Freitag

2021 Scottish Parliament Election

Fenster

Prof. Klaus Stolz has published two contributions on the matter of the upcoming elections for the Scottish regional parliament on Thursday, 6 May 2021.

The first article appeared in The National and discusses Scotland's electoral system and the impact of former First Minister and SNP leader Alex Salmond's new party, Alba, joining the race for Holyrood seats.

Article The National

The second is an interview with the Freie Presse and weighs possible effects of the election on the state of unity of the United Kingdom and the Scottish independence movement.

Interview Freie Presse

While the final results of the election will not be announced earlier than Saturday evening, polls suggest that  Scotland is up for a suspenseful race which might see the one-party dominance of the SNP diminished but at the same time boost the majority for independence parties - or put all aspirations for independence to a momentary rest.
