PROCEED (PROcess Corpus of English in EDucation)

Learner corpora are an important research tool when it comes to studying the language of learners. The Process Corpus of English in Education – PROCEED for short – is one such corpus, started in 2017 at the University of Louvain by Prof. Dr. Gaëtanelle Gilquin and her team.

Unlike traditional learner corpora, PROCCED takes a novel approach by not only considering the final product of written language production by learners, but by also putting a special focus on the actual writing process. This is done by collecting additional data alongside the learner texts, such as keystroke logs and screencasts to monitor the writing process, as well as rich metadata on the learner profile and other factors such as working memory.

As a PROCEED partner, we contribute to the corpus by collecting data for native German learners under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Christina Sanchez-Stockhammer and Katharina Scholz.
