NEWS for South Eastern Europe

NEWS for South Eastern Europe (NEWS4SEE) is a continuation of the project Academic Writing for graduates from South Eastern Europe (AW4SEE) and is also funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The accent on NEWS is twofold: teaching current practices and addressing relevant issues. The project aims to train young scholars in conventions and trends in academic and journalistic writing. NEWS also implies that the output on the annual project theme will focus on analysing the discourse of recent issues permeating the media space in the partner countries and on current examples of culturally specific academic writing features. The projects achieve this through presentations, tutorials, publications and a rich cultural program during a yearly workshop, study visit at the Chemnitz University of Technology, summer school and edited volume part of the Research in English and Applied Linguistics series.
