English Practical Language Programme
Our programme has been designed to help Bachelor’s, Master’s, and ERASMUS students enrolled in British and American Studies at TUC enhance their English language proficiency.
The Placement Test
All students who would like to take courses in our language programme must take the Placement Test. The Placement Test is a diagnostic test which helps us place students in courses that are appropriate for their level as well as tailor our courses to the individual needs of our students. It is not an entrance exam to the BA or MA programme.
For information about the Placement Test, please see the New Students webpage.
Our Programme
- builds foreign language competence with regard to the Four Skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) and the areas grammar, vocabulary and phonetics
- provides students with practice and experience in using English for academic and job-related purposes such as giving presentations, writing term papers or excelling at job interviews
- emphasizes the idea that speaker/writer and listener/reader are responsible for the successful transmission of the message
- develops an awareness of appropriate style and register, including the command of a variety of lexical and structural choices
