President Holds Workshop for Young Scientists
Program by the Centre for Young Scientists on 30 October 2020 at 2 pm prepares participants for contract negotiations
Conducting successful contract negotiations for professors requires comprehensive preparation. This raises questions such as: What needs to be taken into account when preparing a position paper (considerations regarding the design and development of the professorship, etc.)? What aspects have to be considered in resource negotiations (personnel, material and spatial resources, etc.)? How can target agreements be designed? How should one behave professionally in the oral negotiation situation? These and other questions will be dealt with in detail in a workshop led by the President of Chemnitz University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Gerd Strohmeier, which is aimed at all employees of Chemnitz University of Technology who meet the requirements (according to § 58 SächsHSFG) for the appointment to a W2 or W3 professorship, are currently in the application process, but are not yet holders of a W2 or W3 professorship.
The workshop will take place online on 30 October 2020 from 2 to 5 pm. After an introductory lecture by the President, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions in an open discussion round. "Supporting young scientists, regardless of which career phase they are in, is of incredible importance. Against this background, I am very happy to be able to make a direct contribution and to pass on my experience from contract negotiations to our young scientists," says Strohmeier.
"The program is tailor-made for the Centre for Young Scientists and is a great enrichment. Through the President's expertise, it provides young scientists at Chemnitz University of Technology who are eligible to be appointed with decisive tips for successful contract negotiations," says Dr. Nadia Lois, assistant to the President specialized in Junior Researchers and Tenure-Track-Procedure.
