Create your own TUCelino!
Visitors of the Open Day on May 30th 2015 may construct their personal uni(que)-incense smoker with modern and classic manufacturing technologies
“Create your own TUCelino. The original with a brimmed hat!“ With this slogan, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering invites on 30th May 2015 to a special part of the Open Day at the Technische Universität Chemnitz. TUCelino is a uni(que)-incense smoker, whose manufacturing will be presented to both young and old from 11:00 to 14:00 at several stations in the university site Reichenhainer Straße 70, hall E. “Initially the body of the figure is created, then the face, an individual name tag, arms and finally the unmistakable brimmed hat“, reveals Thomas Hänel from the Professorship for Machine Tools and Forming Technology, who helped to design the TUCelino. At each of the production stations, the visitor receives items – and in the end puts the parts together.
Staff of the Professorships of Virtual Production Engineering, Micromanufacturing Technology, Welding Technology, as well as those of the Professorship of Assembly and Handling are also involved with the TUCelino project. The aim of the project is to be able to take along not only a self-made souvenir, but also many interesting impressions of the university and the manufacturing processes at the end of the day.
Through the combination of the Open Day with the Children’s University, which will take place on the 30th May at 10:30, the mechanical engineers’ synergy hope that: “Whoever leaves their name at the stand of the micromanufacturing engineers in the lower foyer of the lecture hall building will get a personalized name plate for the TUCelino at the end of the lecture“, says Hänel.
