The Technische Universität Chemnitz invites guests to the Campus and Sport Fest on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. The on-campus event venue reaches from the Mensa on Reichenhainer Straße to the sports fields on Thüringer Weg. The Fest will be opened at 1:00 p.m. by Prof. Dr. Christoph Fasbender, the TU’s Vice-Rector for Teaching and Learning. The competitions are arranged primarily with students of the TU Chemnitz in mind; the entertaining and diverse stage program invites guests of all ages from the university, the city and the region to join the celebration. Admission is free for all. No lectures or seminars will take place after 1:00 p.m., so that all students can attend.

In keeping with the university’s 180th anniversary, many of the fun competitions will be arranged with the theme “Best of 180” and will provide a look back on past Sport Fests. The participating teams will put their conditioning and coordination skills to the test and prove their team spirit. In co-ed teams of five they can take part in the nine most creative and funniest games from all of the past 23 Campus and Sport Fests. In the end, not only the most athletic teams will be awarded, but also the teams with the best costumes.

Alongside the competitions, guests can look forward to a diverse and athletic event program: Human Table Soccer, a water slide, goal-shooting with speed measurement and even a Go-Kart-Challenge from T.U.C. Racing. Food and snacks will also be on-hand, provided by homies with their vegan treats, Indian students with food from their home country, a Lángos stand and an ice cream truck.

During the event, an entertainment program will be held on the stage near the sports fields: dance performances, poetry slams, musical performances by Jodokus and Ungethüm & Friends as well as a round of blindford chess – there is surely something for everyone. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., the winners of the athletic competitions will be awarded.

Student Initiatives Day will take place on the same day, and more than 20 student initiatives will present their organizations in a parallel event taking place between the Mensa and sports area. These exhibitors have also prepared some activities for guests of the Campus and Sport Fest.

Beginning at midnight, a 180 Minute Party will be held in the Mensa with DJ Shusta and DJ Leu. Admission begins at 11:00 p.m. Tickets are available for advance purchase in the Buchhandlung Universitas and in the Bar Ausgleich.
