1st TUClab Competition Underway: €450,000 in Seed Capital for Start-Up Founders
Saxon start-ups can apply for seed capital and advisory and supportive services through Chemnitz University of Technology until August 31, 2018
As part of its overarching transfer strategy, Chemnitz University of Technology is pursuing the goal of improving the link between the scientific and economic sectors. In particular, Chemnitz University has set a goal to provide extensive support for innovative spin-off companies in its core competency fields of “materials and smart systems”, “resource-efficient production and lightweight structures”, and “humans and technology”. With this in mind, Chemnitz University and the Sächsische Aufbaubank, the official development bank of the Free State of Saxony, initiated the creation of the “TUClab” in order to unbureaucratically support and provide funding for start-up founders.
Two start-up companies will be selected to receive up to 450,000 euros of investment capital from the Sächsische Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbh (SBG). In addition, the winning companies will also receive access to Chemnitz University’s as well as a number of transfer partners’ infrastructure and they will be integrated into the university’s transfer and mentoring network. Researchers and start-up entrepreneurs from Saxony, who have already or would like to found a business based on an innovative idea related to at least one of Chemnitz University’s core competencies, can submit their applications until August 31, 2018. The start-up company must have been founded within the last twelve months before the application deadline. A jury will review applicants’ business concepts according to criteria such as degree of innovation, economic parameters, strategic orientation as well as sustainability/regionality. More information about the course of events, competition and the evaluation criteria is available on the TUClab Project homepage under the “Wettbewerb 2018” heading (in German): www.tu-chemnitz.de/TUClab.
