Description
Nowadays electric vehicles are of great importance for future mobility. The goal of the German government is to establish the leadership in providing electric mobility worldwide.
The research goals of the project “Open-air lab ‘New Mobility’ at Sachsenring“ (“Freiluftlabor ‘Neue Mobilität’ am Sachsenring”) are aiming to make elements of future mobility available for e-mobility, in particular for providers and suppliers. The project is one of forty other projects investigating electric mobility embedded in the ‘Showcase Regions for Electric Mobility’ (Elektromobilität verbindet / electromobility connects) involving the states of Saxony and Bavaria. In the test environment of the Sachsenring-circuit a consortium of Saxonian educational institutions and companies wants to investigate the safety, reliability, use, user acceptance and also the economy of electric vehicles. Additionally, specific assistance systems for electric mobility are examined. For example, the communication between vehicle and infrastructure should be implemented in order to increase the efficiency of electric vehicles, which in turn addresses the limited range of these vehicles.
Key aspects of the Cognitive and Engineering Psychology in the project
- Contribution to problem specification and identification of user demands
- Designing, planning and performing user studies with pedelecs
- Designing, planning and performing user studies with electric vehicles
- Processing and analysing data of user experience and behaviour
- Investigating needs for assistance from a user perspective
