Supporting drivers education with simulators and computer based trainings

Partner

BASt: Bundesanstalt für Straßenwesen (Federal Institute for traffic in Germany)

Description

Goal of the project is the empirical examination of the capability of computer based trainings in enhancing drivers education with respect to cognitive skills relevant for driving.

Building onto the findings in a preceding project, where possible contributions of new media in this context have been outlined, as well as on additional investigations, a multi-media application is being developed that is supposed to complement the current practice of drivers education. The effects of this application are going to be tested in two empirical studies. The first one will try to check the general effectiveness of this application, whereas the second one is supposed to further investigate the mechanisms that are crucial for this effectiveness.
