Block II: Digital Processes

In the second block, which began on November 25 , 2019 , the students dealt with the technologies of digital processes . The technical director here is Ummay Ubaida Shegupta, M.Ed. .

Tasks within BLOCK II:

  • Analysis and implementation of the methods for iCal data acquisition
  • Analysis and implementation of the methods for the ONYX test assessment
  • Data acquisition and generation of statistical data from log files of the OPAL course
  • Realization of a GUI for data display/li>
  • Artificial intelligence for automatic test evaluation

  • In the research project “ tech4comp ” it is necessary to read the data automatically from the log file, the calendar and the ONYX tests and to save them in the database. For this purpose, a program had to be developed which carries out the work step just described.

The first three tasks involved extracting data from the OPAL learning platform and creating a database of their own. OPAL makes it possible to integrate iCal calendar and ONXY tests into courses and to generate log files that contain the access times of various course interfaces.

In the first step, the data must be recognized and the information identified in a filtered manner. On this basis, the database should now be defined and implemented together with the other teams. The data was then automatically extracted and prepared for database storage and statistical evaluation. The exported data should be visualized in the fourth task, for which a further database had to be created first. The data was then presented as components of a website, for the purpose of which, however, statistics on the development over time and the current status of the semester had to be created in advance.

Knowledge queries are very important in a mixed learning environment, but a lot of data has to be processed. One goal of data processing is individual feedback from pupils or students. In order to give good feedback, it is necessary to understand the connection between tasks and to draw conclusions about possible misunderstandings.

Task five required the implementation of a systematic literary survey with clues for the analysis of concepts, which serves to identify misunderstandings. With the help of the results, it should be possible to generate ratings and feedback with the help of an AI .
