My research interests include archaeology, prehistory, medieval literature, mythology and astronomy. How did ancient cultures view the sky? What stories did they tell? What gods did they worship and how can this explain the monuments they left behind?

Curriculum vitae

With a Bachelor of Engineering from University College Dublin and a Master of Business Administration from Dublin City University, I seemed set to follow the typical career path of an engineer/ middle manager. But then I became fascinated by prehistory and took a one-year career break to complete an MA in archaeology in Queens University Belfast. That one year became twenty years and I am still at university.
My PhD from Queens University Belfast examined the role of comets and meteors in culture, with a focus on medieval Ireland. Since then, I have taught Irish in Poland and Leipzig, and academic English in Leipzig University.
I am currently researching a habilitation thesis on the role of prehistoric sites in medieval literature.
