Mailman: Advice for list users

Mailing lists managed by Mailman are addressed with listname@lists.tu-chemnitz.de (listname has to be replaced by the right name).

The list administrator can be reached via listname-owner@lists.tu-chemnitz.de

Overview of public mailing lists at the TU Chemnitz

For subscribers/participants of mailing lists, some properties can be set via this "mini-homepage": preferred language, delivery mode (every mail immediately or "bundled" as a daily summary without attachments), unsubscribe (also for a short time). For this purpose, the e-mail address and the assigned password for the mailing list must be entered.

Subscription to mailing lists is possible both via the web browser and simply via e-mail (content does not matter):

• Subscribe: e-mail to listname-join@lists.tu-chemnitz.de
• Unsubscribe: E-Mail an listname-leave@lists.tu-chemnitz.de

The subscription process must always be confirmed, for which you will receive an e-mail with information.

FAQ: Answers to frequently asked questions

The e-mails distributed via a mailing list do not have an attachment. Only the comment: A file attachment with binary data has been detached...

Then you are subscribed to the mailing list in the so-called digest mode. Change your settings to get into normal mode:

• https://mailman.tu-chemnitz.de/mailman/options/listname
• Log in here with your e-mail address and list password. (You received the password when you registered for the list or you can request it via the above link).
• Then set the "Digest mode" in the personal settings to OFF, submit changes.
