Mailman: Answers to frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Non-members do not receive emails sent via the mailing list. Rather, these are email addresses that have a certain function for a mailing list, e.g. senders whose messages are automatically accepted or rejected.
Mailman has a modular structure. Postorius is the name of the component that provides web access for for managing memberships and mailing lists. Hyperkitty offers the option of archiving the e-mail traffic of a mailing list.
For Administrators
Under Settings, you will find the first item under 'List identity': 'Show list on index page' Don't forget to click on ‘Save changes’ at the bottom of the page.
Check the usage mode (see hints). A list used for discussion among participants should only accept e-mails from participants (1.), enter exceptions if necessary (3.). If an open list is required (e.g. if the address is to be used as a contact address):

Caution: Please test 'Hold for Moderation' first before the 'Discard' action.
Yes, please use the function 'CSV Export' in „Users → Members“.
Log in with a web browser and click on the name of the list (see hints). Fill in the e-mail address of the new administrator under „Users → Owners“ and save it on the bottom. The same applies to new moderators. You also should provide some tips and experience.
If you would like to specify a different resource owner for the list (e.g. transfer the list to someone else or enter a deputy), you can do this in the IdM portal under E-Mail → Mailing lists: Click on the name of the list, then 'Add Resource Owner' or 'Manage Resource Owners'.
While you can add new administrators (owners) and moderators via the tab 'Users → Moderators / Owners', this is done for members via via the 'Mass operations → Mass subscribe’ tab.
