Digital kick-off of EU project SMARTHOUB

A virtual kickoff meeting took place on November 12th, 2021, bringing together the four project partners: Chemnitz University of Technology represented by the Chair for Measurement and Sensor Technology and the endowed professorship "Textile Plastic Composites and Hybrid Compounds", İzmir Katip Çelebi University (Turkey), University of Sao Paulo (Brazil) and Bevi Plastic Ltda. (Brazil). The four partners have rich and unique expertise in different areas such as sensors fabrication, integration, and validation, nanomaterial synthesis, and characterization, modeling, and development of the hybrid laminate system for battery housing, characterization and validation, and development of a joining procedure, which is essential for successful completion of a multi-disciplinary project. Prof. Olfa Kanoun is the coordinator of the project.

A virtual second project status meeting on April 14th, 2022, brings together the four project partners.  The four partners have presented their project status in different areas such as sensors fabrication, integration, nanomaterial synthesis, modeling, and development of the hybrid laminate system for battery housing, characterization and validation, and development of a joining procedure.  


Third Project status meeting of EU project SMARTHOUB

A virtual third project status meeting on December 21st, 2022, brings together the four project partners.  The project status has been reported by the four partners, covering various aspects such as graphene nanowalls based temperature sensors, mathematical optimization of hybrid laminate, mechanical characterization of FRP, lab model design and investigation of various welding techniques.

The key innovation in the project has been published in the magazine "emobilitytec" with a cover story about the smart functionalities of the battery housing with printed sensors. Fourth Project status meeting 

July, 2023

On July 10th, 2023, a fourth virtual project status meeting convened with all four project partners, during which they reported on the project's status, encompassing various facets on optimization of fabrication procedure of polymer nanocomposite based temperature sensors, hybrid carbon based nanocomposites for high conductive electrodes, integration of sensors on hybrid laminate, mechanical characterization of hybrid laminate and adhesive bonding techniques. 


Fifth Project status meeting 

September, 2023

A fifth virtual project status meeting was held on September 25th, 2023, bringing together all four project partners, where they provided updates on the project's progress on sensor development, sensor matrix designs, hybrid laminate design, optimization of welding method to enhance the mechanical properties of the battery housings. 


New Publication

January, 2024

We're excited to announce the publication of our latest research paper titled "Effects of Process Parameters in Thermoforming of Unidirectional Fibre-Reinforced Thermoplastics" in the journal Polymers.

Abstract: This study investigates the effects of process parameters on the thermoforming of unidirectional fibre-reinforced thermoplastics. Our findings shed light on the crucial factors influencing the thermoforming process, providing valuable insights for optimizing manufacturing processes in the composite industry.
