Beny Nugraha is Research Assistant and PhD student at the Chair of Communication Networks at the Technical University of Chemnitz (TUC), Germany. He worked as Research Assistant at Fraunhofer SIT, Darmstadt, and as full-time lecturer at Mercu Buana University, Indonesia. He holds a M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from a dual-degree program between the Bandung Institute of Technology (Indonesia) and the Hochschule Darmstadt (Germany). His research interests include network security, deep learning algorithms, SDN-based networks, and risk assessment methodologies, with focus on developing robust and explainable AI-based Intrusion Detection Systems.
  • Robust AI-based IDS: Developing advanced AI-driven Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) for detecting Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, emphasizing robustness against diverse attack patterns.
  • Resilient AI-based IDS: Enhancing the adaptability and resilience of IDS through adversarial machine learning techniques, such as Conditional Tabular Generative Adversarial Networks (CTGAN), and continual learning frameworks to counter evolving cyber threats.
  • Privacy-Preserving AI-based IDS: Leveraging Federated Learning (FL) to implement privacy-preserving, decentralized intrusion detection systems capable of handling non-IID and imbalanced data scenarios.
  • Efficient and Explainable AI-based IDS: Integrating eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) techniques, including Shapley Additive Explanations (SHAP) and Local Interpretable Model-agnostic Explanations (LIME), to improve the interpretability, transparency, and computational efficiency of AI-based IDS frameworks.
  • SENDATE. April 2016 - May 2019 (Status: Completed). Role: Research Assistant.
  • AI-NET-PROTECT. June 2021 - August 2024 (Status: Completed). Role: Research Assistant.
  • MNT-Pro. December 2022 - June 2025 (Status: In progress). Role: Research Assistant.
  • RADARS. June 2024 - September 2025 (Status: In progress). Role: Research Assistant.
  • SUSTAINET. January 2025 - December 2027 (Status: In progress). Role: Research Assistant.
