Malek Bekri is Research Assistant and PhD student at the Chair of Communication Networks at the Technical University of Chemnitz (TUC), Germany. She received her B.Sc and M.Sc. degrees in Telecommunications Engineering from the National Engineering School of Sousse, Tunisia. She is member of the research group on Network Optimization, Planning and Techno-Economics, investigating and developing AI-based mathematical and algorithmic methods for the robust, resilient and flexible control and operation of high-speed optical transport networks.
  • Data-Driven Network Control: Development of data-driven optimization algorithms for non-linear control of software-defined telecommunication systems. The algorithms include methods for in-operation control of large-scale stochastic networks. Application scenarios of the developed methods fall within the scope of network resource management, software-defined consistent network updates, traffic routing, traffic engineering and network reliability in high-speed IP-Optical transport networks.
  • Optimization methods: The above-mentioned research topics apply, develop and extend mathematical methods in the domains of Linear Programming (LP), Distributionally Robust Optimization (DRO), Adjustable Robust Optimization (ARO) and Machine Learning, particularly, Deep-Reinforcement Learning (DRL) and Graph Neural Networks (GNNs).
  • 6G-NETFAB (Open Disaggregated 6G Network Fabric). Project funded from 2022 till 2025 by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research BMBF (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung). Project status: In Progress. Role: Research Assistant.
  • SUSTAINET-Advance (Sustainable Technologies for Advanced Resilient and Energy-Efficient Networks). European Celtic-Plus project funded from 2025 till 2027 by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research BMBF (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung). Project status: In Progress. Role: Research Assistant.
