Why did you choose the University of Chemnitz? While working in India, I realised that to improve my product development skills, I would need to improve my manufacturing know-how.Modules like production systems and hybrid technologies provided at Chemnitz caught my eyes. It involved most of the options that I wanted to explore. I had also looked into the industries around Chemnitz and projects going at the university and this looked promising for the field I wanted to pursue.Lastly, zero tuition fees was like a cherry on the top.
Which aspects of your stay in Chemnitz do you think have been most beneficial to your career development? The campus is quite big and interacting with people from different fields and background is quite easy and often enlightening.I had an opportunity to work on a hydrogen project at Fraunhofer IWU which opened the doors for me to work in this field. In the hydrogen industry, TU Chemnitz, Fraunhofer IWU and various other industries in and around Chemnitz are doing quite well. Also, through various work student roles at the university, I got highly valuable insight into various industries and future technolical possibilities. The interaction and openness to approach any professor has been very helpful for me.
Please describe your current role.Currently I am working as a development engineer at Freudenberg e-Power System. The company makes hydrogen fuel cell systems for heavy duty trucks and maritime applications. My role here is to develop an industrializable design for the manufacturing of bipolar plates and sealings around it.
What is your favourite memory of Chemnitz? The life in the campus is the first thing that comes to mind. There is something to do for everyone. Most of my time outside of studying or work spent playing different sports around the campus.
What are your future plans and ambitions?I am highly motivated to grow in the industry I am working in currently. Sustainable energy is the need of the future and I want to be a part of it. My ambition is certainly to grow this business in India.
