Do you want to apply this course? Then this is the section for you! Here you find a step-by-step guide through the application process.

The admission process is in this section described by simple steps so that you can apply easily by yourself!

YOU DO NOT NEED THE HELP OF AN AGENCY OR A CONSULTANT. It is also important you know that we as a university are not collaborating with consultants or agencies of any kind!

TUC does not cooperate with commercial agencies in Germany and abroad that place applicants at Chemnitz University of Technology.

Requirements

The admission is mainly based on skills, not on a specific previous degree. You must demonstrate proficiency in the following fields:

  1. Special mathematical methods of engineering, totalling at least 18 ECTS which include the topics of Fourier transforms, regression calculation, probability, and mathematical statistics.
  2. Scientific and engineering data processing, totalling at least 12 ECTS which include the topics CAD, CAS, numerical simulation, and data acquisition as well as multi-physics simulation and practical experience.
  3. Metrology and control engineering, totalling at least 8 ECTS which include the topics of sensors, actuators and digital methods of manufacturing.
  4. New materials for engineering, totalling at least 8 LP which include the topics of polymers, metals, composites, matrix systems and functional properties.
  5. In-depth theoretical basics of engineering, totalling at least 12 ECTS which include the subjects of engineering mechanics, design, manufacturing, and fluid dynamics.
  6. Resource-efficient manufacturing concepts, totalling at least 8 ECTS which include the topics of technical and natural cycles and networks, system optimization and energy concepts.

Additional requirements

  1. Proof of English language proficiency (any of the following documents):
    • IELTS from 5.5
    • TOEFL internet based: min. 72 points
    • Cambridge: from First Certificate in English
    • TOEIC: min. 785 points
    • Certificate stating that medium of instruction during undergraduate studies was English
    • Studies of English language
    • Translator
    • Applicants from countries with English as official or native language are not required to submit a proof of English language proficiency within their application
  2. German language proficiency: From winter semester 2024/25, all applicants must submit proof of German language A1 proficiency. Only certificates from the Goethe Institute, ÖSD or telc will be accepted. Alternatively, it is also possible to take an intensive online A1 course at TU Chemnitz before the start of the semester (440 € fee, https://www.tu-chemnitz.de/international/incoming/deutschkurse/a1.php.en, details in the admission letter) or to submit an above mentioned certificate later. APPLICATION IS POSSIBLE WITHOUT CERTIFICATE, the certificate must be shown when enrolling. 
    Additionally, once enrolled as a student of TU Chemnitz, all students must submit proof of completion of A2 level until the end of the 3rd semester. The free German courses offered at the university can be used to fulfil this requirement.
  3. The courses offered in this master programme require a good understanding of basic mathematical principles. Hence, the Faculty of Mathematics offers lectures and tests as an online course to make you aware of your level and to raise it to the required level. We encourage you to take this course and pass it before starting your studies at TU Chemnitz. This course is purely intended for your benefit and will not affect your grades in any way.

Step by Step

The application for foreign applicants with a foreign Bachelor or Master degree (not for applicants as an exchange student/ Erasmus) is arranged through Uni-assist e.V.

We provide you information how to prepare for the application, but to see the most recent process, please visit the uni-assist webpage.

The application opens at April 1st and is open till July 15th. Admission and rejection letters are issued during and after this period.

Admission is in winter semester only.

There is an application fee to be paid to Uni-assist (70 EUR). Please do not confuse this fee with the semester fee charged by TUC upon admission.

This is the basic procedure step-by-step:

Check out all the course information like requirements, deadlines, etc. on the TU Chemnitz and DAAD website

Go to Uni-Assist and create an account. (Admission starts on April 1st)

Organize the documents specified
- 4 -
Select the Advanced Manufacturing course and upload the documents. Follow the further steps acc. to Uni-assist checklist

Finish the payment and the online application. You will receive a confirmation from Uni-assist by mail

Uni-assist takes about 8 weeks to evaluate your application. If you pass the evaluation, it will forward your application to TUC and send you a notification mail
