Catalog of the University Library - the way to literature

With the help of our library catalog you can search for the media that have been bought or licensed by the library. All of this is immediately available to you. Of course, libraries also record media that are freely available on the web. However, all of these sources are in any cases suitable for your term papers, presentations or final theses.

In the library catalog of Chemnitz University Library you will find, for example printed and electronic

• books: monographs , all kind of reference works, dictionaries, dissertations
• journals and newspapers
• theses of Chemnitz University of Technology

as well as

• a selection of articles from books or journals which fulltexts are available online - for a reliable article research however, use a database - more on this in unit 3.
• non-book-media, e.g. DVDs, CDs etc.

Tip: The so-called “OPAC” is simply an electronic library catalog. In the past it was still available on index cards. Hence the distinction according to "Online": OPAC means "Online Public Access Catalogue".
