Hackathon in Qatar (12.11.2023 - 16.11.2023)
At the University of Doha for Science and Technology the Hackathon took place from 12.11.2023 till 16.11.2023. At the first day Eng. Albaraa Alkilani and Eng. Lara Al-Shboul set the tone with engaging discussions, followed by the Bokashi Group's presentation, providing a platform for technical consultations. Students Jamier John Bonaobra, Abou Baker Al Sediq, and UDST students, supervised by Dr. Hassan Mahasneh and Dr. Hassan Ali, showcased their projects, enriching the collaborative atmosphere. Monday the 13th of november commenced with a warm welcome and introduction session, setting the tone for an informative exploration of UDST's facilities. Participants engaged in insightful lab tours, exploring the cutting-edge facilities in the College of Engineering and Technology and the College of Computing and IT. The tours provided a hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the technological advancements at UDST. A networking session allowed participants to share their impressions from the lab tours, fostering discussions on potential collaborations and innovative ideas. A dedicated time for discussions allowed participants to delve into the specifics of the visited labs, exchange thoughts, and address any queries that arose during the tours. The day unfolded with a dual focus. In Classrooms Dr. Marcus Braun from Blackpoint and Salman Ahmed from SAXEED, led a Business Pitch and Project Management Workshop for the students. This intensive session equipped students with vital skills in pitching strategies and project planning. Simultaneously, the rest of the team engaged in a Project Status Update and Future Plans Discussion. The team scrutinized project progress, addressed challenges, and strategized for the future. This workshop continued the next day and also different presentations were held. The grand finale of the Smart.Eco Workshop unfolded with the "Utilizing Artificial Intelligence and Drone Technology in Sustainable Development" Student Exhibition and Hackathon. Bringing together members from TU Chemnitz and The University of Jordan, this event aimed to amplify awareness of leveraging cutting-edge technology for sustainable development and climate change mitigation. The last day kicked off with talks and lectures. Dr. Awni Al-Otoom, Dean of CET, welcomed participants, leading to insightful discussions, including a case study on climate change and SDG achievement in Bangladesh and highlights of SDG achievement in the UK. The transition of fossil fuel was also explored by Mr. Daniel Vemagiri Marbaniang from Schlumberger. The morning session included talks and case studies focusing on climate change and SDG achievements. The day continued with an exhibition visit and the Project Assessment and Judging Round conducted by the Hackathon Committee. The afternoon featured business pitches from top-ranking projects, followed by judging and the announcement of winners by the Hackathon Committee. The event concluded with the announcement of winners and closing remarks, highlighting the success of the Smart.Eco Workshop and inspiring continued efforts in technology and sustainable development.
