The Smart.Eco Study-Tour Workshop brought together experts from academia and industry to discuss innovative technological solutions for sustainability and economic development. The three-day event included presentations on drone technologies, AI applications, entrepreneurship, and cultural heritage preservation.
The day commenced with a presentation by Prof. Jamal Zbitou, who explored advancements in drone charging systems using wireless power transmission. He highlighted the transformative potential of wireless technology to extend the operational range and capabilities of drones. His work bridges hybrid electronic circuits with practical applications in fields such as logistics and renewable energy. This was followed by a session led by Dr.-Ing. Norbert Englisch, who shared his expertise on technological innovations in product development and his contributions as a product owner at neocx GmbH in Germany. His experience in applied informatics and research underscored the importance of interdisciplinary approaches to modern challenges.
The second day focused on AI applications in agriculture and business. Dr. Amith Khandakar introduced AI-powered image analysis for smart farming. He explained how drones equipped with AI algorithms can enhance agricultural efficiency by providing precise data for crop monitoring and soil health assessment. His achievements in biomedical instrumentation and machine learning highlighted his multidisciplinary expertise. Later, Eng. Abdullah A. Alghwairi discussed the evolving role of AI in the MENA region. He emphasized the importance of using AI for social good and its transformative potential in business. As CEO of SHAI for AI Solutions, he presented case studies on how his organization empowers businesses through AI-driven strategies and training programs. The final day explored entrepreneurship and cultural heritage preservation. Eng. Ahmad Al Saif delivered an inspiring session on cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset. Drawing from his experiences as Founder & CEO of Alefredo EdTech, he shared success stories of implementing innovative digital platforms for students across the MENA region.
The workshop concluded with a presentation by Eng. Lujain Hijazi, who introduced a unique initiative for heritage recording. Her work at Sager Drone involves creating a shared data center for cultural heritage sites, integrating AI-powered geospatial intelligence to empower research and reconstruction efforts. Her strategic approach showcased the intersection of technology and historical preservation. The Smart.Eco Study-Tour Workshop successfully highlighted diverse perspectives on integrating smart technologies for sustainable solutions. Each speaker provided valuable insights into their field, fostering a collaborative environment for sharing ideas and advancing innovation.
